Like most global brands, VitrA started off small – in 1942 – with an eight-man workforce and single kiln coping with an overwhelming demand of earthenware products.
Post-war, led by consumer demand for ceramic sanitaryware, VitrA’s focus on versatile and affordable ceramics became a novelty in the marble-dominated Turkish market. The first production plant started in 1958 to answer demand. The range grew and became a success domestically, expanding into a mega complex for ceramic manufacturing, followed by brassware, tiles, acrylic bath factories and bathroom furniture.
VitrA's first exports were made to Germany in the early 1980s. Not long after, VitrA began to establish itself as a global brand, launching its first manufacturing plant abroad in Ireland in 1999. While answering growing global demand, these cutting-edge factories and plants allow VitrA to produce sophisticated designs and maintain extremely high standards.
Worldwide, VitrA is the sixth largest manufacturer in its sector. In fact, its output of 6.2 million pieces of ceramic sanitaryware a year is greater than that of the entire ceramic sanitaryware industry of Germany.
